HELLO,
I have had a garden ( 40 x 60 ) here in MICHIGAN with lots of PINE TREES all around me for the last 4 years now, but I have sandy soil , even though I have spread about 6 inches of cow manure on it about 10 years ago , & I tilled it 3 times a year , I can get beans , peas, & tomatoes to grow , but have trouble with sweet corn & squash, carrots, a friend wants me to take 12 inches of top soil off , then add 6 inches of clay , then put top soil back on top again , thanks DAVE from MICHIGAN

Hey Dave:)

Can you take a photo of the soil maybe dig into it a bit? Adding clay sounds like a good idea but you need to add more manure at this point because 10 years is a long time ago and it should all be gone by now. Really need to see the soil though.

Thanks and welcome to the site! Check out our new welcome page here!
