I am going to start growing fodder as well. I read where one guy said because chickens don't have compartmental stomachs they should not be fed large amounts of green leafy fodder. He feeds the fodder to his chickens right as the green leaves emerge. You still get the nutrients and the expanded feed which cuts down on the feed bill.
What do you guys that feed fodder think about that?
Also, what types of grain are best for growing fodder?

That's awesome Opabee!! I am having fun with it so far:) I don't really see the purpose and feeding it to them right when it turns green when you can get it to double in size from that point and still get the same nutrients. I guess I would just need more information:)

Now as for the best grains to sprout, I would really need to know what you think would be best. Nutrient level of the sprouts or the speed at which they sprout.

I know the most popular grains are oats, wheat, and barley:) Some people will add black oil sunflower seeds, flaxseeds, and chia seeds.

Hope that helps:)
