We have a khaki Campbell pair, male and female. I was watching them flap their wings as they walked upright around the yard recently and it got me thinking. While I have never seen them obtain any lift off the ground, I wondered if I should be concerned about the migration season and clip wings. I do not clip wings on my chickens because we don't have a fenced in yard and the neighbors don't even want me to chase them out of their yards.
If we should clip wings on the ducks, are the like chickens in that you should clip the left wing only? I know that with chickens you do the left wing because that is the side with the ovaries and is heaviest. I also know you should only clip one wing so that it keeps them off balance and prevents lift. My duck book doesn't cover this topic at all so all assistance is appreciated.
